Named for the French writer of the first cookbook, this is a temple of cuisine, with service, service, service. Want to taste your companion’s dish? A waiter notices, and appears with an extra fork and a dish to place it on. Verges on stuffy, but the staff is friendly and welcoming. Food is tres cher (expect $300 for lunch if you get wine and the tasting menu, for example) and very well prepared. They’ll be polite no matter what, but try not to wear jeans. LG
