The museum was constructed to his specification in 1922, after he donated 8 paintings to the French state.  Extensive renovations uncovered the remains of 17th century fortifications and the museum&#8217;s re-opening stalled until 2006.  There&#8217;s an English language tour at 2:30 every Monday and Thursday.  Closed Tuesdays.  LG  </p>
