This is a former 2 star which upgraded itself by adding air conditioning units in most rooms, an on-site bar, and redecorated rooms and bathrooms. Hotel Sorbonne is a consumer favorite due to its good location and proximity to the Latin Quarter, Sorbonne and music clubs, cafes, and so forth. The hotel is completely non smoking.

Rooms are also equipped with a new iMac for easy internet access.

In a nod to local famous artists, each bathroom features a tile mosaic of a famous painting. Full baths, not just showers. Nice desk staff, wifi and non smoking rooms. Air conditioned, only 17 rooms. LG

Hotel Duo Axial Beaubourg

In the same family since 1918, this hotel was completely renovated recently so bathrooms are super clean and above average for a 3 star hotel. The location is the heart of the Marais, an area you can stay in for days and just graze from cafe to cafe to falafel joint. Rooms are small but cleanly designed; hotel has air conditioning, onsite bar, fitness center and sauna. LG

Christian Lacroix designed this 7 story modern hotel, in a terrific neighborhood for walking, dining and shopping. Small rooms, well appointed with eclectic design you could love or hate. Air conditioned and sound proofed. On site lounge; room service available. Part of the same group which owns The Five. LG

One block off the Champs d’Elysees, this is a 43 room boutique hotel. Onsite bar/lounge. Massages available. Room upgrades pretty common. Especially clean. Check the website for specials. Expensive for a 3 star, but delivers above average service and decor. LG

Royal Magda Hotel

Half a block from the Air France CDG bus dropoff point, just off the Champs d’Elysees, this is right at the Charles de Gaulle-Etoile metro stop, the convergence of 3 lines. The hotel has a multilingual staff who are helpful with reservations and travel advice. Rooms are small and kind of spartan, though they do have flat screen tvs and a minifridge. The real estate in this part of Paris is expensive, so you pay more for less. LG

In a super good neighborhood, this hotel is a find, with a nice, multi-lingual staff, clean and comfortable rooms, especially good bathrooms, and proximity to sights and metro.

30 rooms, some with an Eiffel Tower view, which is a 20 minute stroll away. Cute exterior and friendly staff. Above an open air cafe. Air conditioned. Very small charge for a third bed to be added to a double room, which brings down room price per person a lot. Easy access to the 6 and 9 Metro lines. One block from the RER train to CDG airport, really a plus. Free wifi. LG

One block off the Champs d’Elysees, this hotel is a bargain for the area. Very convenient for sightseeing. Only 31 rooms. Quaint, with an inner courtyard and some balconies. Rooms have a minibar/refrigerator. Friendly staff. LG
